Canadians Reverse Plans to Co-Sponsor Anti-Marriage Event in Rhode Island

by: tudor586

(Hope you lose, eh? - promoted by Charley on the MTA)

Maggie Gallagher's "National Organization for Marriage" is holding an anti-equality rally in Warwick, RI on Sunday, trying to hold onto the lone state in New England not to recognize same-sex marriage. Her group used an inside connection and got Tim Hortons (Canada's version of Dunkin' Donuts) to agree to donate refreshments for the anti-equality shindig. NOM touted Tim Hortons as a co-sponsor, which caused an uproar North of the border, where it isn't respectable to associate with the American right-wing fringe Gallagher so ably represents. Gay activists applied pressure and the Loonie-loving donut sellers backed out. Special thanks to former Bostonian Fred Kuhr, now an activist in Toronto, for helping to organize the opposition up North.

way better than DD anyway (6.00 / 1)
Tim Horton's coffee, pastries & food are hugely better than Dunkin' Donuts so I'm glad I don't have to boycott them over this. Tim Horton's, come to Boston!!

The iced cappuciono or however it's spelled (0.00 / 0)
