You might recall that Sen. Brown is so independent, that he's against having the EPA actually, you know, protect the environment.
Two green groups are putting home-state pressure on Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) – who is up for reelection in 2012 in typically blue Massachusetts – over his support for blocking EPA’s climate change rules.
The Natural Resources Defense Council and Environment Massachusetts are running an ad this week in two big state radio markets – the Boston and Springfield areas – that defends EPA rules to limit greenhouse gases.
…
Brown last June voted for Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s (R-Alaska) failed measure to overturn EPA’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases. But the legislative fight is expected to flare again in the new Congress.
Given what is going on in the world, to be against the EPA regulating greenhouse gases is sheer madness.
How about this for a 2012 slogan, Senator? Nantucket submerged in our time! Good one.
I'm waiting for politicians — hell, enviros — to truly be politically aggressive with this issue. We need it.

I don’t think it helps for Democratic leaders to be publicly aggressive… GOPers and Indies tune out. Instead, we need independent and Republican leaders — even just a few of them — to be aggressive. To remind the middle third and a few GOPers that this really matters, and that it can be solved.

p>In the mean time, lets elect ourselves a Democrat in Massachusetts in 2012, shall we?

Are you suggesting that Env. MA and NRDC are “Democratic leaders”? I know we don’t see eye to eye here, but I regularly lament that at the federal level enviro groups can almost never endorse a Republican candidate.
<
p>I can’t speak for NRDC here, but when we decided to sign our name to the ad, We decided to do it because the issue of EPA regulation of CO2 is fairly popular. And while I don’t have polling, kids and public health are also two things that people care about.
<
p>Our goal with the ad was to demonstrate to the Massachusetts public that Scott Brown is on the wrong side of this issue. Which I think the ad, with some opportune media coverage supporting it, does.
