Boston Herald re-writes election results

by: Striker57

Thu Mar 06, 2008 at 07:58:12 AM EST

(Egg, meet face. - promoted by Bob)

This from the Boston Herald today:

In New Hampshire, where Obama beat Clinton by 3 percentage points, Suffolk showed Obama winning by 5, compared with Zogby, which showed him leading by 13.

Figured I had missed the results of the recount so I went and checked at CNN

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/20...

Nope. Clinton still won. Pollesters still got it wrong.

I thought they screwed that up! (0.00 / 0)
I read that this morning on my way to work...and announced that the Herald had it wrong.  Thanks for confirming it.

"The world was made for people who aren't cursed with self-awareness." ~Annie Savoy, Bull Durham

not unexpected from the Herald (0.00 / 0)
but it is a bit odd to have a story about pollsters being "accurate" or not at this time. Despite the NH and SC surprises (Clinton up about 9% from polls in NH, Obama up about 13% from polls in SC), most of the polling has been very accurate, especially in Texas and Ohio. The electorate is very much stable at this point, so you don't have the rapidly dynamics that you had between Iowa and NH and in the time leading up to South Carolina.

Anyway, unsurprising sloppy typo form the Herald, but funny.

Took them long enough (0.00 / 0)
It took 12 hours but they finally issued a correction:

Anyone else try to leave a comment on their site? I think their image verification system doesn't work, I can't seem to get the image number accepted by their site.
