Are You Freakin' Kidding Me? Let's Boycott Dunkin Donuts

by: EB3

Wed May 28, 2008 at 10:31:59 AM EDT

(Good grief.  Would anyone in their right mind mistake this woman for a terrorist, or for a sympathizer?  Honest to crikey.

- promoted by David)

This is really scary stuff.

Be careful what your stylest wants you to wear.

I'll no longer buy from Dunkin' Donuts.  In fact, I'll avoid Starbucks too, just based on guilt by association.

Course, I don't shop at those places anyway. (6.00 / 1)
I'd also be happy to boycott purchases of Porches, Snickers bars, the Boston Herald, bottled water, and refrigerator magnets shaped like states.

Just let me know when you need my help.

Funny you should mention it (0.00 / 0)

My family collects magnets shaped like states.  Got any you want to get rid of?  I'm weak on the southern states.

Starbucks (6.00 / 5)
Makes a point of using Arabica beans in their product, which is tantamount to supporting the reestablishment of the Caliphate and the annihilation of Israel.

In addition, next Thanksgiving consider having Chicken, because Turkey is a place that has Moslems, and many of them.

You may continue to put your feet on your ottoman while watching Bill O'Reilly, however.

Chewing gum (6.00 / 1)
Also commonly uses gum arabica, I believe.

But I do wonder if Michelle Malkin knows that (6.00 / 9)

the keffiyeh (0.00 / 0)
when i was in high school, it was the hight of coolness to wear a keffiyeh as a scarf.  even if not intended, i do think the scarf she is wearing is reminiscent of a keffiyeh, and it made me happy to see it.  not because it stands for terrorism, but because a) it is a refreshing bit of something different and b) it brings back wonderful memories of palestinain and israeli students coming to my school together to explain and discuss the situation in their home countries.

well that, and, my sister in law gets all hot and bothered over any hirsute man in a keffiyeh.  so makes me smile to think of her secret keffiyeh lust. :D

DDs is owned by the Carlyle Group (0.00 / 0)
H. W. Bush is a senior adviser, and Dubya was put on the board of directors in one of their acquisitions, Dubya then promptly ran it into the ground then ran for governor of Texas. More background.  These people are terrorist sympathizers?  Who knew?  But it does explain a lot.

Listening to Charlie Baker talk about fiscal responsibility is like getting lectured on abstinence from Paris Hilton - Tim Murray

Well, I'll stick with Dunkin' just because they dropped Rachel Ray, whose nasality and annoyance is second only to Fran Drescher. (0.00 / 0)
The business with the scarf is ridiculous, however.  I only wished they dumped her AGES ago because she's such a whiny broad.  I spent all last Christmas season with my finger on the mute button in case she popped up - overandoverandoverandover...

I don't think Rachel is gone, just the Ad ... (0.00 / 0)
But I'm with you on her, she annoys me to no end.  My kids like to watch her show so I have to hear her voice when I get home from work.

"a whiny broad" (0.00 / 0)
Perhaps a better choice of words would have been appropriate.

Glad to see BMGers keeping misogyny alive and well.

I don't like her enough to be able to tolerate her show either, but referring to her in such loose terms is unneeded.

let's stick to the subject here anyway...Dunkin' Donuts never really had my business to begin with, and they sure won't be getting it now.

More Malkin inanity- she's something else entirely. I agree with Boch III- Dunkin Donuts should be boycotted for caving in to that insufferable fool.

Maybe I should check in with the morning line up on WTKK just to be sure....

Michelle Malkin & Rachael Ray (5.67 / 3)
... and the monkeys in the Dunks front office all deserve each other.

Seriously, why isn't the corporate response, "Wow, that Malkin is seriously deranged. Get help, now."

I really don't care who they have advertising or what they are wearing, but I am disgusted that any company would roll over to the right-wing sleaze machine on such a silly issue.  All this does is empower the foaming-at-the-mouth crowd to continue this kind of intimidation.

they're a corporation (0.00 / 0)
their imperative is increasing share value.  mouth-foamers drink coffee too.  if you want to continue selling your cream 'n sugar poison to them and others, you back away from pop political controversy.  unless, of course, you can get into a niche market by posturing as "real" anti-malkin coffee purveyors.

i'm not saying don't complain.  i'm just saying don't expect much.

You're right, but... (5.00 / 1)
...the proverbial squeaky wheel gets the grease.  If they know that they've offended an equal number of customers by their knee-jerk reaction they may be less likely to kowtow to a hate commentator in the future.

I don't expect them to put Rachel Ray back up there, nor do I really care one way or the other.  It's about control and if Michelle Malkin and her ilk now think they have the power to shape coffee ads, then they are going to continue to be increasingly aggressive in efforts to manipulate the media.

Many moons ago, I used to work in the call center of a major auto manufacturer and we knew which "issues callers" were important enough to listen to and which ones were serial protesters.  If they are only hearing from dittoheads, then as far as they know, there is a consensus.

I'm such a liberal dirty hippie... (6.00 / 1)
...that I'm going to buy a Boston Creme on my way home from Dunkin' Donuts.  I'm going to wait patiently in line, which drives all Americans crazy, be nice to the sales help so they don't realize my sinister bent, tip generously (excess tips go to Hezbollah, I'm told), only take as many napkins as I need, and enjoy my donut.

Two donuts.  I'm getting two donuts -- that's just how much I hate America.

We have to stop the hate. (0.00 / 0)
This was a blatant anti-semitic hate crime designed to intimidate Jews.  Dunkin Donuts should pay the consequences.  The executives should resign immediately.

The sum of $100 million dollars from Dunkin Donuts and its parent company should be turned over to the ADL to further the education of people about hate.  Only then should we start talking about stopping the boycott.

Didn't Congress pass a law forbidding these hate crimes?  I wouldn't mind seeing some of these people behind bars and being sold for a few cigarettes.

you really (6.00 / 2)
created an account, today, just to say that?

Don't people usually wear Keffiyahs on their heads? (0.00 / 0)
n/t

Oh wait. (3.00 / 2)
I guess there is a subset of people who do wear them like that.

But I have a problem with the idea that keffiyeh automatically equals terrorist. The vast majority of keffiyeh-wearing Arabs around the world aren't terrorists. For Malkin to equate a keffiyeh-esque scarf with terrorism, and for Dunkin Donuts to buckle is an insult to Arabs.

This has to be the most spineless corporate reaction since Mattel apologized to the Chinese for being upset that the Chinese put lead in their toys.
