would say it's hard to be off topic on an open thread, even if it's a directed open thread.
My name is Bob LaRocca, I'm Tim's campaign manager. Thank you for your interest in Boston's District 9 race. Tim's website is www.TimSchofield.org
Concentrate on your candidates in the MA-05 race today (of course!), but we would greatly appreciate your help and support starting tomorrow.
Thank You,
Bob
Crib a page off the Ontario Liberal Party:
Ontarians will be treated to another long weekend every year if the Liberals are re-elected next month, the government announced Monday. The holiday, proposed for the third Monday in February, would be called Family Day and focused on giving families more time to spend together.

Not too late to do this in the general....
So it would be harder to make it a long weekend, then stick it in a month when there is traditionally less vacations. Like, say, early November!
I think it can work.
Festus [contends http://www.redmassgroup.com/showComment.do?commentId=4269] that the three cities in Eastern Merrimack Valley--Haverhill, Methuen and Lawrence--which made up 23% of last September's Dem primary turnout in the district and has no "favorite son" running, is key to this election. If so, I drove by probably the smallest precent in Haverhill (Rocks Village) and it was plastered with Donoghue signs. Maybe a fluke encounter or an indicator of a strong organization that can pull off an upset.
All I can say was that I was all around the city today and the Tsongas folks were everywhere.........multiple signs at all the polls and real people holding signs......Donoghue signs were mostly on vacant lots and abandoned buildings.....
Here's why you saw all those Tsongas Tsupporters.
Niki Imported her Tsupporters from Team Obama in New HampTshire
Democrat Niki Tsongas has imported from New Hampshire campaign volunteers from Barack Obama's presidential campaign to hold signs for her throughout the district.
I think this makes sense. For last year's regularly scheduled Gubernatorial (and other) primary on 19 Sep 2006, I was the 586th voter at 3:30pm; the vote total for that day was 1076. I'd guess that today is heading for about 75% of that number.
Jamie Eldridge is the state rep in Harvard; the independent town newspaper had letters from Bob Durand and Pam Resor (former and current state senators) endorsing him, and a half-page ad for Eldridge signed by many of the town politicians. Nothing in the paper for any other candidate.
I only saw signs for Eldridge beyond the polling place perimeter at the high school. There were also people holding Eldridge signs at the corner of 27 and 111 in Acton. In Stow, there were one each of signs for Eldridge and Tsongas near the polling place.
The only other news I heard (on WBUR) was that Lawrence was predicting 7% turnout, down from the normal 14% for special elections -- whether they meant special election primaries in particular, or special elections in general, was not specified.

Also, and I don't know if they will be live here or only final, the MA elections division listing.
