NH primary set for January 8

by: David

Wed Nov 21, 2007 at 16:46:18 PM EST

NH Secretary of State Bill Gardner has finally set the date for the New Hampshire primary: January 8, 2008.

So January should be an interesting month.

Jan 3: Iowa caucus.
Jan 8: NH primary.
Jan 15: Michigan primary (in which of the frontrunners only Hillary is on the ballot, and even she won't campaign there).
Jan 19: Nevada caucus.
Jan 26: South Carolina primary (Dems) (GOP SC primary is a week earlier, on Jan 19).
Jan 29: Florida primary (also I think being boycotted).
Feb 5: Super-duper Tuesday.

Fasten your seatbelts.

Fasten your seat belts and...here we go again? (0.00 / 0)
By Feb. 5th it will be over, probably sooner for the Dems and will we once again have buyers remorse by the Spring?  This front loading has got to stop, so we--the voters--don't get caught up in a 3 week media frenzy and act like sheep by affirming the winner of the last primary/caucus.  We should have lot's of breathing space to digest what happened in the last primary before we knee-jerk into the next one.  A very bad system we've spun...for both parties.

I understand - but I am glad now for (0.00 / 0)
the early schedule.   I hate primary politics and sick of them--especially since they started so soon.   I am much more comfortable focusing my animus on adversaries rather than just rivals.

Cad - the eight months between voting and convention will guarantee the longest primary season EVER! (0.00 / 0)
Unless there is a clear cut winner, and that seems more likely on your side than mine, this will just drag on and on, with NO actual nominee.

Even when Madame DOES win your nomination - who does she attack, when she isn't sure who the GOP nominee will be?

Also - this is going to make the VP selection excruciating - even on YOUR side, as that won't take place until late August.
